Every year I look forward to seeing what's new in the world of skin care — and 2026 has brought some genuinely exciting shifts. After 19 years behind the treatment table here in Denver's Golden Triangle, I've learned to separate the trends worth embracing from the ones that fade by spring. Here are the five I'm most excited about this year.
1. Barrier-First Skincare. The conversation has finally shifted from stripping the skin to supporting it. Clients are coming in asking about ceramides, peptides, and gentle cleansers — and I couldn't be happier. A healthy skin barrier means better results from every treatment we do together, whether that's a chemical peel or a microneedling session.
2. Personalized Facial Protocols. One-size-fits-all facials are out. In 2026, the best estheticians — and I'd like to think I'm one of them — are doing a thorough skin analysis before every single appointment and adjusting the treatment on the fly. Your skin on a dry Denver winter day is not the same as your skin in July. We treat accordingly.
3. Microneedling for All Skin Types. Microneedling has moved from a niche treatment to a mainstream staple, and for good reason. The collagen induction it triggers works beautifully for fine lines, acne scarring, and overall texture — and advances in technique mean it's now appropriate for a much wider range of skin tones and types than it used to be.
4. Wellness-Integrated Treatments. Denver clients are increasingly thinking about skin care as part of a broader wellness picture — not separate from sleep, hydration, stress management, and nutrition. I love this shift. When I work with a client on their full routine, not just what happens in my treatment room, the results are dramatically better.
5. Clean, Minimal Ingredient Lists. Clients are reading labels now, and they're asking smart questions. I've always preferred professional-grade products with targeted, well-researched ingredients over anything with a long list of fillers. This trend aligns perfectly with how I've always approached product selection at Accent Beauty.
